Our Approach
Thunderbird Treatment Center offers each patient a personalized pathway for overcoming addiction and addictive tendencies. Our approach utilizes counseling, medical management of addiction, and consistent follow up as the foundation for successful long term addiction management.
At Thunderbird Treatment Center our addiction counselors work with patients by providing them tools to help them understand addiction as a disease. Counselors help patients uncover what may be leading them to use alcohol or drugs, and how those unseen triggers may be preventing a clear path to recovery. Patients are encouraged to work with their counselors and providers to develop a personal plan to overcome those daily triggers.
The roles of a counselor include:
Providing unbiased emotional support
Providing one-on-one therapy sessions
Developing an individualized treatment plan
Providing continued guidance throughout a patient’s treatment program
Our clinicians utilize Suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone combination), and oral Methadone as primary agents to counter physical dependency. Methadone is a safe and effective medication used for the treatment of opioid addiction. Methadone works by mitigating the painful symptoms of opiate withdrawal and blocking the euphoric effects of opiate drugs such as heroin, morphine and codeine. While on stable doses of Methadone the brain is given the opportunity to reestablish a balance between opioid receptors and natural endorphins, allowing the patient the opportunity to maintain long term addiction control.
Both Methadone and Suboxone are opioid- agonists with distinct properties that allow them to be utilized very effectively in the long term treatment of addiction. Both treatment options are effective when appropriately tailored to the individual needs of the patient, and our board certified addictionologists specialize in the utilization of cutting edge therapy recommendations for Methadone and Suboxone therapies.
